Project Description

EDUCATION IS AN

OPEN DOOR OF HOPE

We are committed to fixing problems, not just addressing their symptoms. Every day millions of students miss out on the opportunity to further their education. This means that millions of kids are unable to become doctors, nurses, engineers, and teachers in their community. One of the greatest ways we can create real change is to empower students to learn. What does this have to do with water? In areas that lack access to clean water, children are typically chosen to draw water for the entire family. This means that instead of being in a classroom, they are walking miles simply to draw water for basic household functions. Centrally located, clean water wells won’t just decrease disease among children, but increase their opportunity for a brighter future through education.

  • It’s estimated that $260 Billion lost globally each year due to lack of safe water and sanitation.
  • 443 million school days are lost each year due to water-related diseases.
  • Over half of the developing world’s primary schools don’t have access to water and sanitation facilities. Without toilets, girls often drop out at puberty.

MakeWell also partners with other charities to help build schools in many remote and forgotten locations in Asia. These schools not only teach children, but serve as hubs for training and oppotunitiesfor adults as well. People have the opportunity learn skills and trades that help increase overall economic impact to their community.  We have committed one well to each school location in order to schools a safe place to receive training, clean water, and safe sanitation.
